DEBOER WINS NATIONAL SILVER IN CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING
Mia Simpson crossed the line eight seconds ahead of Dianne Deboer from Conestoga College, who earned the silver medal in a time of 23:00.
Mia Simpson, representing the RSEQ's Dawson College Blues, claimed the CCAA women's individual national championship, finishing in a time of 22:52.
The 2025 CCAA Cross-Country Running Championships, hosted by Holland College and held at Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale Nordic in Brookvale, P.E.I., showcased the nation's best collegiate runners amid crisp Maritime fall weather.
Simpson crossed the line eight seconds ahead of Dianne Deboer from Conestoga College, who earned the silver medal in a time of 23:00. Élie-Anne Tremblay from Cégep Garneau claimed bronze with a time of 23:14. Rounding out the top five were Amélie Bardon from Dawson College and Maëlly Lamontagne of Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
In the team event, the Élans du Cégep Garneay of the RSEQ were crowned 2025 CCAA women's national champions, finishing with an average team time of 24:10 and a score of 37 points. The team consisted of Élie-Anne Tremblay, Aurélie Claveau, Aurélie Paradis, Frédérique Michaud, Alice Chouinard and Charlotte Lussier.
Earning team silver medals were the Dawson College Blues with a team score of 51 points and an average time of 24:23. Their lineup included Mia Simpson, Amélie Bardon, Amelia Clark, Lieba Bacher-Spitzer, Ella O'Carroll and Mila Degand.
The Dynamiques du Cégep Sainte-Foy captured the team bronze medals with a team score of 93 points and an average time of 25:15. Representing the team were Stéphania Gilbert, Camille Martel, Camille Richard, Jeanne Richard, Daphné Turmel and Maryse Viens.
Xavier St-Onge of Les Dynamiques du Cégep Sainte-Foy won the CCAA men's individual national championship with a time of 25:10.
Finishing just 22 seconds behind was Elliot Bélanger from Cégep Garneau, who earned the silver medal with a time of 25:32. Nathan Woyessa from SAIT Polytechnic took bronze with a time of 25:32, followed by Francis Bouffard from Cégep Sainte-Foy and Noah Fortier from Cégep de Sherbrooke to complete the top five.
The team championship came down to a close battle, with the Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy securing the 2025 CCAA men's team national championship. The team finished with a score of 23 points and an average runner time of 25:54. Members of the gold-medal squad included Xavier St-Onge, Francis Bouffard, Antonin Savignac, Léandre Binette, Lois Poitras and Jakob Comeau.
Taking team silver were the Élans du Cégep Garneau, who posted a team score of 53 points and an average time of 26:55. Their roster featured Elliot Bélanger, Edouard Lehoux, Robi Racine, Matis Rousseau, Franklin Bussières and Manuel Rousseau.
The Vulkins du Cégep de Victoriaville claimed team bronze, recording a team score of 87 and an average time of 27:43. Their athletes included Loucas Céré, Maxime Corbeil, Laurent Cantin, Louis-Philippe Bédard, and William Lebel and Ludovic Laflamme.
The 2025 championships marked another memorable event for collegiate running in Canada. With the scenic Brookvale Nordic Centre providing a stunning Maritime backdrop, the runners, coaches, and fans experienced a true celebration of CCAA sport.
