LANCER ALUMNUS FASTEST WOMAN IN GOODLIFE FITNESS TORONTO MARATHON

Congratulations to Lancer Hall of Fame Inductee Jutta Merilainen on being the fastest woman in this past weekend's GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon!

Merilainen completed the race in an impressive time of 2:47:17, two full minutes ahead of the second place female runner.
 
The marathon consisted of 1,748 participants - 1,085 of those were men and 668 were women.
 
A two-time OCAA cross country champion, Jutta placed 21st overall in the marathon.
 
Merilainen's college athletic history includes both provincial and national accolades, as well as a variety of academic achievements.

• OCAA Women's Cross Country Team Champion
• 2x Loyalist College Female Athlete of the Year
• 2x OCAA All-Star
• 2x OCAA Academic Award
• 2x CCAA Silver Medalist
• 2x CCAA All-Canadian
• 2x CCAA Academic All-Canadian
• CCAA Bronze Medalist (team)
• 2x CCAA Silver Medalist as part of Team Ontario

Jutta was inducted into the Loyalist Lancer Hall of Fame March 30, 2011, and was inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame the same year.
