HUMBER WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT OCAA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
For two sets, it looked like the OCAA would have a new champion. Coming out for the third set, something clicked for the Humber Hawks who are now women's volleyball champions for a fifth consecutive year.
For two sets, it looked like the OCAA would have a new champion. Coming out for the third set, something clicked for the Humber Hawks who are now women's volleyball champions for a fifth consecutive year.
Humber Hawks 3 – St. Clair Saints 2
The Humber Hawks dropped the first two sets, but stormed back to win the final three sets against the St. Clair Saints 22-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21, 15-11. Keyome Ellis was named Championship Most Valuable Player for the Hawks, finishing the championship match with 10 kills, a trio of aces, nine digs and three blocks.
Hannah Manners (16 kills, 13 digs) and Caitlyn Labelle (14 kills, 11 digs) were named to the Championship All-Star team for the Hawks along with St. Clair's Brianne Hobbin (eight kills, 17 digs) and Kiana Huggins (16 kills, six digs). The win was extra special for the Hawks after dropping both regular season matches to the Saints, both in four sets.
Setter Kaley Rawlick (three kills, 33 assists) was named Player of the Match for the Hawks while Saints' setter Emma Clements (34 assists, seven digs) earned the recognition for St. Clair.
Seneca Sting 3 – Durham Lords 0
The Seneca Sting captured their first OCAA medal since 2024 (silver) with a decisive sweep over the Durham Lords 25-21, 25-22, 25-16.
The Sting were led by OCAA East Division Player of the Year Mikyla Patras who finished with a match-high 17 kills on 30 attempts (.467) and was named a Championship All-Star. Patras also added seven digs for the bronze medallists who constantly frustrated the Lords with excellent defence, securing 60 digs in the match versus 40 for the Lords.
OCAA East Division Rookie of the Year Presley MacLeod was second on the Sting with nine kills. Emmi Nicholas was named Player of the Match for the Sting following a 16-dig performance.
Jessie Buck paced the Lords with 14 kills on 29 attacks (.448) while Championship All-Star Elizabeth McFarland added eight kills and four digs. Chelsea Oke was named Player of the Match for the Lords following a six-kill, 10-dig performance.
