WINDSOR, Ont. - The Algonquin Thunder came out with a win against the Loyalist Lancers in the consolation semi-final, winning three of four sets at the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect held at St. Clair College's SportsPlex on Saturday.
Loyalist looked hopeful in the first set, but came up short against the Thunder, 25-23. In the second set Loyalist bounced back winning with a final score of 25-19. Algonquin regained control in the third set winning 25-21. The fourth set was 25-20 for the Thunder who advance to the consolation final game on Sunday at 12 p.m. against the Fanshawe Falcons.
Algonquin came into the championship with a record of 15-3 while Loyalist was 11-7 on the season. The Player of the Game from Loyalist was Emilie Leneveu with a total of eight kills and one stuff block. The Player of the Game from Alqonquin was Breeane Scheerhoorn who had a total of 16 kills, one stuff block and 14 digs.
