KITCHENER, Ont. - Last season the Mohawk women's volleyball team struggled to a 4-14 record, tied with Conestoga as also-rans in the West Division. But they certainly started off on the right foot Thursday, sweeping Conestoga 28-26, 25-18, 25-20 in Kitchener, Ont.
Kinsey Child led the Mountaineers with eight kills, two service aces and 18 defensive digs. Yvonne Mann had two kills and 26 assists.
Brianna Doldeman led the Condors with 10 kills and eight digs.
"We were really fluid tonight on offence and played good positional defence behind our block," said Mohawk head coach Andrew Nicholson. "We have a full week to (prepare) for our next match at Cambrian, but it's great to start with a win."
