LEE HEADLINES OCAA WOMEN'S SOCCER AWARDS
Bekah Lee (Burlington) of Seneca Polytechnic is the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Year.
TORONTO — Bekah Lee (Burlington) of Seneca Polytechnic is the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Year.
The fourth-year midfielder is a leader on and off the field, a true midfield general that helps defensively and offensively. Lee's ability to break up plays and win tackles along with the ability to draw passes and score goals makes her a great player. The East Division Player of the Year receives other honours as well, including Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, East Division Defensive Player of the Year and East Division League First-Team All-Star.
The West Division Player of the Year is third-year forward Victoria Walsh (Georgetown) of St. Clair College. Walsh led the West Division winning Saints in scoring with nine goals in 10 matches. A hard working player from Day 1, Walsh's fitness, attitude and perseverance make up a winning attitude. Walsh is also CCAA All-Canadian and West Division League First-Team All-Star.
Tessa Vahrmeyer (St. Catharines) of Niagara College is also a CCAA All-Canadian. The second-year forward was the West Division Scoring Champion scoring 14 goals in 10 matches. Vahrmeyer has worked tirelessly on her finishing skills all season and has become more proficient as the season has progressed. Vahrmeyer is also a West Division League First-Team All-Star.
The OCAA Rookie of the Year is Alana Kendrick (London) of Centennial College. The defender is very athletic and a positive force on and off the field, contributing three goals and three assists in seven matches. The East Division Rookie of the Year headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.
The West Division Rookie of the Year is Niagara's Savannah Speck (Fonthill). The centre back has tremendous speed allowing her to shut down the best strikers in the league. The West Division League Second-Team All-Star headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.
Steve Vagnini of St. Clair is the OCAA Coach of the Year and a nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year. A core of returning players mixed with some key additions came together quickly during camp and have grown together each day, leading to a unbeaten record and West Division crown. Vagnini is also the West Division Coach of the Year.
Basil Phillips of Algonquin College is the East Division Coach of the Year. The Wolves featured 10 rookies that meshed with the returning players to create a competitive program that finished near the top of the division standings.
Seneca's Alexis Cordeiro (Brampton) is the OCAA Scoring Champion. The third-year forward scored 17 goals in 10 matches for the East Division champion Sting, averaging 1.7 per game. The East Division Scoring Champion is also an East Division League First-Team All-Star.
Doreen Anane-Bediakoh (Brampton) of Humber Polytechnic is the West Division Defensive Player of the Year. Throughout the season, the fourth-year defender has shut down some of the league's top attacking players with grit and determination. Anane-Bediakoh is also a West Division League First-Team All-Star.
The top defensive teams are the Seneca Sting in the East Division and Niagara Knights in the West Division. Seneca and Niagara gave up six and four goals against, respectively.
Several OCAA League All-Stars were also recognized. In addition to Lee and Cordeiro, East Division First-Team All-Stars include Alex Aubin (Long Sault), Olivia Bradley (Almonte), Kassandra Da Cruz (Orleans) and Paige King (Munster) of Algonquin; Mylie Decoff (Burlington), Hailey Frampton (Oshawa) and Vanessa Lima (Toronto) of Centennial; Alexis Bayley (Whitby) of Durham College; and Kayla Uddenberg (Richmond Hill) of Seneca.
Along with Walsh, Vahrmeyer and Anane-Bediakoh, West Division First-Team All-Stars include Claire Di Benedetto (Hamilton) and Hayley Mackie (Kitchener) of Conestoga College; Lily Ryder (St. Thomas) of Fanshawe College; Tierra Bennett (Brampton) and Elisa Oliveira (Brampton) of Humber; Cienna Toromoreno (Vaughan) of Niagara; and Jasmine DeBoer (Hagersville) and Emily Walraven (Burlington) of Redeemer University.
Members of the East Division Second-Team All-Stars are Emily Cullen (Pickering) and Elizabeth Maione (Vaughan) of Centennial; Julia Fontana (Whitby), Erin Michalicka (Pickering) and Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto) of Durham; Iman Bhanji (Scarborough) and Annia Pavli (Toronto) of George Brown College; Monica Sousa (Whitby) of Lakehead University Orillia; Isla Weir (Amherstview) of St. Lawrence College; and Christina Diaco (Vaughan), Marlene Siwula (Mississauga) and Isabella Velasquez (Mississauga) of Seneca.
In addition to Speck, West Division Second Team All-Stars include Miriam Wambulwa (Niagara Falls) of Fanshawe; Kaylese Callender (Vaughan) and Chantel Spalla (Mississauga) of Humber; Leah Burrell (Windsor), Scotlyn Fick (Belle River), Natalie Kersey (Belle River), Brianna Kinsley-Clough (Georgetown) and Sierra Lapos (Tilbury) of St. Clair; and Manuela Garcia (Mississauga) and Grace Makarewicz (Bolton) of Sheridan College.
Along with Kendrick, East Division All-Rookie Team members include Ashley Woodcock (Amherstview) of Algonquin; Jetayah Casselman (Trenton) of Loyalist College; Sousa of Lakehead Orillia; and Weir of St. Lawrence.
Francesca Arduini (Maple) of Humber; Madison Rodriguez (Hamilton) of Mohawk College; Tautiana Pellegrino (Brantford) of Redeemer; and Payton Lessard (St. Thomas) of St. Clair join Speck on the West Division All-Rookie Team.
