LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe women's soccer team hosted the undefeated Sheridan Bruins (4-0-2) on Saturday afternoon. The game finished in a 1-1 tie.
The first half was very evenly matched. A shot by Fanshawe's Daniella Strano was the closest chance for a goal, narrowly missing the top corner of the Bruins net, hitting both the top and side crossbar. The game remained tied at the half, with Fanshawe leading in shots on goal seven to two.
Fanshawe started the second half as the aggressor, with a number of great shots on net but Sheridan's goalkeeper Mallory Woeller kept denying the Falcons attack. In the 56th minute, Fanshawe finally broke through. Marisa Oliveira had an amazing corner kick right to the back post and Strano headed it in to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
In the 72nd minute, Sheridan's Michaela Krampert tied the game with a ball over the head of Fanshawe's goalkeeper Cheriss Marson. The Falcons outshot the Bruins 15 to five but the game finished in a 1-1 draw.
The Falcons next game takes place at home on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. versus the Lambton Lions (0-4).
