LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe women's soccer team defeated the Conestoga Condors (2-1-1) by a final score of 5-0. With the win, Fanshawe jumps ahead of Conestoga in the standings to fourth in the OCAA West Division with a record of 2-1-1.
Fanshawe was in control right from the start, with a number of early chances to score. In the 26th minute, Katie Parker buried one into the back of the net for Fanshawe on a great pass from Chelsea Britnell. One minute later, Parker scored again and the Falcons took a commanding 2-0 lead.
In the 40th minute, Marisa Oliveira sent a rocket to the net for a goal, and in the 44th minute Parker scored for the third time and at the half, the Falcons led 4-0. Fanshawe held Conestoga to just one shot on goal at the break.
Parker continued where she left off in the first half and in the 50th minute, put in her fourth goal of the game. Fanshawe controlled the tempo for the rest of the half and in the end, out-shot the Condors 20-5 and won the game by a final score of 5-0.
The Falcons next game is on the road on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. in Welland, Ont., versus the Niagara Knights (0-4).
