OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday as they were defeated by the Algonquin Thunder 3-2 at Vaso's Field.
Both teams entered the match with 2-0-0 records, tied for first place of the OCAA east region.
Durham would get on the board first taking a 1-0 lead as Jenn Sheehan (Whitby, Ont.) scored her first goal of the season.
Later in the half, Algonquin scored off a free kick to tie the game up 1-1. This was the first goal scored against Durham in three games.
Algonquin would carry the momentum from their last goal into the second half as they scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Chelsey Rogatinsky (Pickering, Ont.) would cut the Thunder lead to one scoring off a free kick in the late stages of the game, but that is as close as Durham would get as Algonquin drove away with the three points.
Durham drops to 2-1-0 on the year and sits in second place, three points behind Algonquin (3-0-0).
The Lords next game is set for Wednesday, October 5 in Toronto against the Seneca Sting (1-0-0).
