FANSHAWE 55, CENTENNIAL 53
TORONTO - The second bronze medal quarter-final at the belairdirect OCAA Women's Basketball Championship pitted the Fanshawe Falcons against the Centennial Colts.
This one was a very close one as the host Colts lost a heartbreaker 55-53. This one was a see-saw battle that went back and forth. The end of the first quarter saw the Falcons edging the Colts 16-13.
Centennial came back in the second quarter outscoring the Falcons. Tammara James-Frances (Toronto) led the way with eight points. The third quarter saw the Colts in front by a score of 45-43 as the game continued to heat up.
Eventually the Falcons took the game scoring the game winner with mere seconds on the clock. The ball was then put into the hands of Centennial's Samantha Reid (Toronto) who was sent to the foul line. Reid was unable to convert and the final seconds of the game ticked away as the Colts lost a tough one.
Colts player of the game was Kayla Higgins (Toronto) scoring a total of 10 points with seven rebounds. Centennial's high scorer was Reid with a total of 16 points.
The Falcons player of the game was Kiera Serodio (London, Ont.). Laura Vere (Stratford, Ont.) put up 18 points as the game's top scorer.
The Falcons advance to the OCAA bronze medal semi finals.
