TORONTO - The Humber Hawks and Niagara Knights opened up the 2015 belairdirect OCAA Women's Basketball Championship. The Hawks defeated the Knights 64-58.
Humber's high scorer was Natalie Hagopian (Thornhill, Ont.) who had 10 points in the first quarter and finished off with 16 by the end of the game. Humber's player of the game was Ceejay Nofuente (Toronto) racking up 13 points and five assists.
Humber took an early lead and never looked back going ahead 33-23 points at the end of the first half.
Niagara's high scorer and player of the game went to Courtney McPherson (Welland, Ont.) with a total of 19 points and seven rebounds. Teammate Kaitlyn McPherson (Welland, Ont.) dominated the second half with a total of 14 points after only scoring just one point before halftime, finishing the game with 15 points.
