WELLAND, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team struggled down the stretch and dropped their record to 1-2 after a 74-62 loss at Niagara College in Welland, Ont., on Sunday in the final game of a weekend swing trip in OCAA west region action.
In control at halftime with a 42-34 lead the Saints could only manage to shoot under 30 per cent from the field for the game and were out-shot at the free throw line and trailed 65-57 in rebounding for the contest. Foul trouble for St. Clair amounted to 27 points at the line for Niagara.
Third-year swing player Tori Schutz (Lasalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) led the Saints in scoring with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) scored 16 points to go with nine rebounds adding three blocked shots and three steals. Meighen Boyd (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) reached double figures chipping in with 10 points to go with six rebounds and three assists for St. Clair but fouled out in just 17 minutes of play.
Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines, Ont.) led Niagara with 17 points.
