The Quinte region was hammered today with a sever blast of Old Man Winter then came the "Thunder" which put a damper on seniors night at the Lancer Dome.
Five Lancer athletes were recognized and thanked for their incredible dedication to the college and its varsity program. The understaffed Lancers battled the top place Algonquin Thunder early.
The Thunder hit a buzzer beater three at the end of the quarter to take a five-point lead. As the game progressed the pressure defence of the Thunder took its toll on the home squad.
Algonquin shot the ball very well from behind the arc combined with too many Lancer turnovers proved to be the difference on this night.
Former Lancer, Amber Burton led all scorers as she ended the night with 14 points. Jenni Thompson led the Lancers once again with 12 while senior Martine Gauvin chipped in with nine.
The Thunder remain undefeated with a 15-0 record while the Lancers fall to 10-6 and are now tied with the Seneca Sting for third place in the East.
