LOYALIST 80, GEORGIAN 35
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team started off their second half of the OCAA season with an eastern road trip for games against the Loyalist Lancers and St. Lawrence Vikings but things did not go as planned.
First up it was a trip to Belleville to face the Lancers on Saturday. The Grizzlies had a tough time getting set out of the gate, falling behind the Lancers early and were unable to recover and fell 80-35 in the end.
Meagan Grabowsky and Kara Faulkner led Georgian with eight points each, while the Grizzlies couldn't find an answer for Loyalist's Jenni Thompson who scored 30 points in the win for the Lancers.
Next up for the Grizzlies was a trip to Kingston to face the Vikings.
Georgian gave it a great effort but got outmatched by the second place St. Lawrence Vikings who were able to pull away with a 64-33 win.
Agnes Bartosik led the Grizzlies with nine points while also posting eight rebounds, while Elmvale native Jessica Tinney had six points and nine rebounds in just over 12 minutes of play.
The Grizzlies will continue their road swing when they travel to Seneca to face the Sting on January 19. Georgian will return home for a pair of games against Durham on January 23 and Centennial on January 25.
