GEORGE BROWN 75, DURHAM 61
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start as they were defeated by the George Brown Huskies 75-61 Wednesday night at the CRWC.
George Brown outscored Durham 42-26 after twenty minutes and extended their lead to as many as 23 points in the second half. The Lords would go on a late run but were unable to make up the large first half deficit.
The Huskies dominated the rebound battle as they picked up 29 offensive boards compared to just 12 by the Lords. Shan Wilson led the Huskies with 12 rebounds, seven of which were on the offensive end. Wilson also added 17 points in the win.
Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Lords fourth year forward also had four assists in the losing effort.
Keriann Sullivan had 13 points while MacKenzie Mcfarlane and Alicia Del Fuoco had 10 points apiece for Durham.
George Brown would take advantage of 20 steals, scoring 23 points off of Durham turnovers.
Aria Charles frustrated the Lords defence the entire game as she finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Kayla Higgins had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.
The Lords are 1-4 on the year while the Huskies improve to 2-3. Durham's next game will take place on Friday, November 23 as they host the Georgian Grizzlies (0-5). Game time at the CRWC is 6 p.m.
