TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is proud to announce that Enzo Endres of Humber Polytechnic has been named its 2025-26 Male Rookie of the Year. Endres (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made an immediate impact in his rookie season, emerging as one of the most dynamic outside hitters in OCAA men's volleyball.
Endres — who comes from a long lineage of volleyball standouts — led the Humber Hawks in scoring with 239 points, the fifth-highest single-season total in program history and the second-most ever by a freshman. Endres' ability to perform consistently under pressure quickly established him as a primary offensive weapon and a key piece of Humber's success.
Endres put the OCAA on notice back on Nov. 1 where he garnered a match-high 16 kills on a .625 swing percentage in a four-set victory over Redeemer. That started a stretch of four matches where Endres recorded double-digits point totals, including back-to-back matches with 11 kills.
Beginning with the fall semester finale on Nov. 30 and continuing through January, Endres elevated his performance to a new level. During a dominant six-match stretch, Endres recorded double-digit totals kills and points in every outing, averaging 13 kills and 17.5 points per match. Endres punctuated his stellar regular season on Feb. 8 by tallying 27 kills and 30 points in a four-set victory over West Division champion Cambrian, foreshadowing what was yet to come.
Endres was named OCAA Rookie of the Year in men's volleyball, consistently elevating his level of play with his skill, work ethic and composure on the court. Endres led all Humber players with 109 total digs and 32 service aces, while sitting second on the team averaging 3.00 kills per set, 183 overall kills and 26 blocks. Endres was also named the West Division Rookie of the Year and member of the West Division All-Rookie Team.
Endres and the Hawks entered the post-season with a target on their collective backs, aiming for a record-tying sixth straight OCAA championship. Endres made his playoff debut earning 19 kills in a straight-sets win over Durham on Valentine's Day, then added another 15 kills and 18 points in a three-set win over Canadore on Feb. 21.
There was no let up at the OCAA championship at Cambrian, with the Hawks winning their semifinal over Seneca in four sets. Endres contributed 18 kills and 21 points to the collective effort. Then in the gold medal match against the host squad, Endres tallied 19 kills and 20 points as the Hawks secured their six-peat with a straight-sets win. Endres was honoured post-tournament for his efforts as an OCAA Championship All-Star.
Humber had high hopes advancing to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Volleyball National Championship in Edmonton, but Hawks were clipped in three straight matches. This was not due to a lack of effort by Endres who was named Player of the Match in Humber's opening round match against Red Deer after recording a match-high 14 kills. Endres added another dozen kills in Humber's meeting with St. Thomas, and a match-high 18 in a five-set loss to Providence.
Overall in the post-season, Endres averaged 4.60 kills and 5.0 points per set, far surpassing his regular season averages of 3.0 kills and 3.9 points.
