FLEMING TAKES GOLD AT HOME
The Fleming Knights men's volleyball team captured the gold medal at the sixth annual Fleming College Men's Volleyball Invitational.
The Fleming Knights men's volleyball team captured the gold medal at the sixth annual Fleming College Men's Volleyball Invitational.
The tournament took place on January 4 and 5 and hosted the Boreal Vipers, Canadore Panthers, Conestoga Condors, Trent Excalibur, St. Clair Saints, and the George Brown Huskies.
The Fleming Knights gained the top spot in the championship game by winning five out of their six matches, only losing to St. Clair College in three close sets.
Canadore, George Brown, and St. Clair all won four out of their six matches and the tie breaker came down to sets won minus sets lost. Canadore (+6) come out ahead by one point over George Brown (+5) to face the Knights in the championship game (1 vs. 2).
The Knights defeated Canadore in two straight sets 25-17 and 25-14, winning the gold at home. Alec Dupuis-Girard was named MVP and Clay Couchman was named tournament all-star.
Other all stars included Eric Oliviera from George Brown, Josh Lynch from St. Clair, and Dan Trudel from Canadore.
The Fleming Knights host the Georgian Grizzlies on January 18 as they kick off the regular season.
