The CCAA national championship final was a thriller from start to finish, as the Humber Hawks and Algonquin Wolves gave it their all in an intense battle.
Humber's midfielder and Championship MVP, Franz Mella, opened the scoring, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw pressure from both teams, with the Wolves pushing for a comeback. Despite their best efforts, Humber's defence held strong, and the Hawks emerged victorious as the 2024 CCAA champions.
Players of the game were Dalen Comeau for the Wolves and Peter Shervetov for Humber.
CCAA Semi-Final: Algonquin Wolves 2, Langara Falcons 1
In a thrilling match-up that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Langara Falcons and the Algonquin Wolves played a tense, back-and-forth game that was decided in dramatic fashion.
The first half saw both teams creating chances, with neither able to break the deadlock. The score remained 0-0 at the break, with both goalkeepers putting in solid performances to keep their teams in the game.
The second half saw Langara break the stalemate early, as Zegurra Rodriguez found the back of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. However, the Wolves refused to back down and continued to press. Their persistence paid off when Connor David leveled the score, bringing the game back to even terms.
With the clock winding down, it seemed as though extra time was inevitable, but David had other plans. In the 85th minute, he netted his second goal of the match, a clinical finish that sealed a 2-1 victory for the Algonquin Wolves and sent them through to the championship final.

CCAA Semi-Final: Humber Hawks 3, NAIT Ooks 0
The Humber Hawks put on a dominant performance against the NAIT Ooks, securing a 3-0 win.
From the very first whistle, Humber set the tone, with Jacob Ball striking early to give the Hawks the lead. Just minutes later, Ball doubled his tally, putting Humber firmly in control of the match. Not content with just two goals, the Hawks continued their offensive pressure, and Marcus Riviere found the back of the net before halftime, extending the lead to 3-0.
NAIT struggled to break down Humber's defence and could not find a way to score, despite some hard work from their players. In the end, Humber's clinical finishing and solid defence sealed the victory.
Humber advances to their 11th CCAA men's soccer championship final where they will play the Algonquin Wolves, who have previously competed in seven of their own.
The Players of the game were Ball of Humber and Rich Anderson of NAIT.
CCAA Quarter-Final: Algonquin Wolves 2, Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers 0
In the third game of the day at the CCAA Championship, the Algonquin Wolves emerged victorious with a solid 2-0 win over the Saint Lambert Cavaliers.
The Wolves struck first in the 19th minute, with Connor David finding the back of the net to give Algonquin a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Algonquin continued to press, and their efforts paid off in the 73rd minute when Gershom Dupuy doubled their advantage with a clinical finish.
Despite a late push from Saint Lambert, the Wolves defence held firm, ensuring a clean sheet and securing the win.
Players of the game were Thomas Fraser from Cavaliers and Christian Aviles-Molina of Algonquin.
CCAA Quarter-Final: Humber Hawks 3, UKC Blue Devils 0
In the second game of the CCAA Men's Soccer Championship, the Humber Hawks showcased a dominant performance, defeating the UKC Blue Devils 3-0.
Luca Pinto opened the scoring early, followed by a goal from Franz Mella to solidify Humber's lead.
Jacob Ball capped off the victory with a third goal, securing the Hawks commanding win. A good start for Humber as they advance in the tournament.
