LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's soccer team defeated the Lambton Lions (2-3-2) by a final score of 4-0. The win gives the Falcons a chance to still make the post-season.
It was a heated match right from the start, with playoff positioning at stake. In the eighth minute, after a Lambton yellow card, Cedric N'Guessan took a quick shot and scored in the bottom corner of the goal to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
In the 15th minute, Moises Morales curled a ball around the Lambton goalkeeper from 18 yards out to put the Falcons up two. Fanshawe doubled up the Lions with a 10 to five shots on goal advantage and headed into the half up 2-0.
Both teams settled down in the second half and in the 70th minute, Fanshawe put the game out of reach on a goal by Connor McLeod. Camilo Garcia added another in the 89th minute as the Falcons went on to win by a final score of 4-0.
The Falcons final league game of the year takes place on the road Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. versus the Mohawk Mountaineers (0-4-2).
