SARNIA, Ont. - The St. Clair men's soccer team remain undefeated in OCAA league action.
The Saints travelled to Sarnia, Ont., on Wednesday to take on the Lambton Lions and came away with a 2-2 draw. With the win the men now have two wins and two draws on the season. Lambton has two wins and one draw.
In a very chippy and controversial match the Saints controlled most of the play. St. Clair had 12 shots on target while Lambton had only six.
Lambton went up 1-0 in the 14th minute and it stayed that way for the rest of the first half.
St. Clair tied the score on a goal by Brett Holmberg (Ajax, Ont.) in the 62nd minute. The Saints went up 2-1 on a tally by Brian Santos (Leamington, Ont.) just five minutes later.
St. Clair held the Lions off the sheet until the 88th minute on a controversial call that led to the penalty kick. Most in attendance felt the foul was well outside the penalty area but the officials disagreed. Lambton scored on the kick to tie the score.
A total of 11 yellow cards were handed out during the match and three St. Clair players were ejected due to some very questionable calls.
St. Clair is next in action on Friday, Sept. 26 when they host the Redeemer Royals at 4:30 p.m. at the main campus soccer field.
