TORONTO - The final medals of 2025 will be awarded by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) on two fronts on Sunday as the medal matches are played in men's rugby.
The two top teams from the regular season are set to battle for the OCAA's top prize as the undefeated Durham Lords play host to the defending champion Humber Hawks at Thompson Rugby Park in Oshawa. The bronze medal will be awarded in Barrie as the Georgian Grizzlies host the Conestoga Condors. Both contests are rematches from the regular season.
Both matches can be seen on OCAA LIVE.
Humber Hawks, Toronto (5-1, 2nd OCAA) at Durham Lords, Oshawa (6-0, 1st OCAA)
Sunday, Nov. 16 - 1 p.m.
An anticipated showdown between the two top teams during the 2025 regular season will determine this year's OCAA champion.
The Durham Lords have won seven straight matches since September, the last being a 40-15 drubbing of the Conestoga Condors at home last Saturday. OCAA Player of the Year Devonne Henry (Whitby) was held out of the try zone for the first time this year, but still contributed a match-high 10 points for the Lords, all on converts.
The Humber Hawks are looking to become the first OCAA back-to-back champions since Durham did the trick in 2019. The Hawks soar into the final on the strength of a 15-12 win over the Georgian Grizzlies last Sunday. Second-year prop Harry Lutumba-Mpongo (Scarborough) scored the winning try for Humber.
The Hawks and Lords last battled in October, with the latter coming away with a 29-27 victory. Henry had a tremendous impact for Durham scoring three tries while adding a pair of converts for 19 points. League All-Stars Cooper Markou (Mississauga) and James Robb-Kennedy (Barrie) both contributed a try and a convert in a losing effort.
Durham last won the OCAA title in 2022.
Conestoga Condors, Kitchener (3-3, 4th OCAA) at Georgian Grizzlies, Barrie (5-1, 3rd OCAA)
Sunday, Nov. 16 - 1 p.m.
Both teams that lost last weekend's semifinals will meet at J.C. Massie Field to determine the OCAA bronze medalist.
For Conestoga, it's a chance to earn back-to-back OCAA medals after taking silver last year. For Georgian, it's an opportunity to return to the podium after seeing its eight year medal streak ended in 2024.
These teams last met in September with the Grizzlies pulling out a 29-26 victory. Georgian's leading scorer during the regular season, League All-Star Kade Rennie (Collingwood), was one of five Grizzlies to score a try in the match.
Third-year player Jackson Mcdonald-Inglis (Brussels) and second-year lock Alex Muir (Paris) each scored a pair of tries in a losing effort.
Conestoga has been locked in a win one, lose one pattern the entire campaign, which is a good omen for the Condors entering the bronze medal match. Georgian's only losses of 2025 both came at the expense of Humber.
