ST. LAWRENCE (K) 22, LOYALIST 10
KINGSTON, Ont. - Hosting their first official home game of the 2013-14 Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) season, the St. Lawrence College (SLC) men's rugby team hosted the Loyalist College Lancers on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off a disappointing performance against Algonquin College last weekend, the SLC coaching staff was looking for a much better effort from the squad in Saturday's match.
The Vikings came to play, taking charge of the game right from the start, making smart plays offensively to create opportunities for one another, while holding strong defensively.
SLC would go on to win the game 22-10, improving their overall record to 1-1.
"Our boys had a more focused effort to start the game," said St. Lawrence head coach Brad Greenwood. "It was a big improvement from last week, but as always we still have more work to do to push into the post season."
Vikings man of the match was Jacob McDonald, who played an excellent match having been out of action in last week's game due to injury.
SLC is back in action against Seneca College on Saturday, Sept. 28 at home. Game time is 3 p.m.
