TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) rugby student-athletes of the week for
the period ending Sunday, Sept. 25.
MALE: Jeremy Nesbitt, Algonquin
Jeremy Nesbitt set a new OCAA single game scoring
record in Division II men's rugby, contributing 18 points in
Algonquin's 53-7 win over Fleming-Lindsay on Sunday. The old record
of 17 points was set by Sergio Grice of St.
Lawrence-Kingston in 2008. Nesbitt's five converts was one shy of
tying another single game record. He also had one try and one
penalty kick. It was Algonquin's debut match in OCAA men's
rugby.
FEMALE: Danielle Pauze, Conestoga
Danielle Pauze made Conestoga's debut in OCAA
women's rugby a winning one, scoring a game-winning try in a 10-7
victory over Seneca on Sunday. OCAA women's rugby was introduced as
a trial sport in 2010, resulting in a number of new schools
debuting in the sport in 2011. Making Conestoga's first win all
that more impressive was that Seneca was an OCAA silver medalist in
2010.
