GRANT HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL AWARDS
TORONTO - For the second time in as many seasons, Malik Grant (Brampton) of Humber Polytechnic is the 2025-26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
TORONTO - For the second time in as many seasons, Malik Grant (Brampton) of Humber Polytechnic is the 2025-26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
Averaging 18.9 points while logging 30.6 minutes per game, the fifth-year small forward served as the primary offensive option for the Hawks and was a constant scoring threat from all three levels. Grant shot 46.3 per cent from the field and 36.4 per cent from three-point range, stretching opposing defences throughout the season. Also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and West Division Player of the Year, Grant headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.
Jasean Elliott (Toronto) of Durham College is the East Division Player of the Year. The third-year guard delivered one of the most complete seasons in the OCAA, leading all players in assists (112) and steals (60), while also ranking 12th in field goals made (105). Averaging 15.3 points per game and finishing 14th in defensive rebounds (80), Elliott is also recognized as East Division Defensive Player of the Year. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Elliott headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.
Rounding out the CCAA All-Canadians is Marko Dosen (Hamilton) of Mohawk College. The fourth-year forward has had a very impressive and efficient season, ranking 17th in field goals made (95), sixth in field goal percentage (54.3), 11th in free throw percentage (77.0), 19th in free throws (47), fifth in defensive rebounds (99), fifth in rebounds per game (8.4), seventh in points per 40 minutes (27.7) and 14th in points per game (16.5). Dosen is also a member of the West Division First-Team All-Stars.
Joseph Buckley (Oshawa) of Niagara College is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The guard has been a key player on the Knights, starting all 18 games. Buckley scored 17.6 points per game while averaging 31.1 minutes on the court. Buckley shot 39.2 per cent from the three-point line and 86.0 per cent from the free-throw line, adding 36 steals for good measure. The West Division Rookie of the Year is also an West Division Second-Team All-Star and headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.
Tai Ajose (Mississauga) of Loyalist College is the East Division Rookie of the Year. The point guard was the league's top shooter beyond the three-point arc with a 44.6 shooting percentage. Overall Ajose averaged 13.9 points per game averaging 21.4 minutes. Ajose is also a solid defender who has generated 33 steals. Ajose headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.
The OCAA Coach of the Year is shared between Brendon Seguin and Matt Sykes of St. Clair College. The Saints duo led the team to a 15-3 record and a West Division crown for the third time in four seasons. Seguin and Sykes believe in building a culture that allows student-athletes to grow both on and off the court. Seguin and Sykes share West Division Coach of the Year honours and are nominees for CCAA Coach of the Year.
Chester Taylor of Centennial College is the East Division Coach of the Year. Taylor has completely turned the Colts basketball program around through his discipline, leadership and high basketball IQ. Taylor's tough, demanding coaching style has challenged his players to raise their standards and the results have been immediate, going 14-4 in 2025-26.
Loyalist's Romain McCalla (Durham) is the OCAA League Scoring Champion. The fifth-year guard averaged 25.6 points competing in all 18 regular season games. McCalla's 461 total points also led the OCAA. The East Division Scoring Champion is also an East Division First-Team All-Star.
Parker Davis (Hamilton) of Redeemer University is the West Division Scoring Champion. The fourth-year guard averaged 25.4 points in 13 regular season games. Davis is also a West Division Second-Team All-Star.
St. Clair's Mazin Tiea (Windsor) is the West Division Defensive Player of the Year. The fifth-year forward led the league with 28 blocks and averaged a steal per game to go with 5.9 rebounds per game. Tiea is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.
Centennial's O'Neil Turton (Scarborough) is the East Division Sixth Man of the Year. The second-year forward showed a lot of poise and maturity off the bench averaging 12.9 points per game.
Humber's Adrian Aluyi (Toronto) is the West Division Sixth Man of the Year. The fourth-year small forward was a key contributor off the bench averaging 12.4 points per game on an elite 61.7 per cent shooting. Aluyi is also a West Division Second-Team All-Star.
The Georgian Grizzlies won the East Division championship in a three-way tiebreaker, going 14-4. The Durham Lords and St. Clair Saints are recognized as the Best Defensive Team in the East and West Divisions, respectively. Durham allowed 73.4 points against per game, while opponents averaged just 72.3 points against St. Clair.
In addition to Grant, Dosen and Tiea, West Division First-Team All-Stars include Tyrelle Miller (Brampton) of Lambton College; and Jacob Masters (Toronto) of St. Clair. Joining Elliott and McCalla as East Division First-Team All-Stars are Ryan Frank-Brooks (Scarborough) of Centennial; Jason Sache (Kanata) of Georgian College; and Sina Ayerman (Richmond Hill) of Seneca Polytechnic.
Along with Buckley, Davis and Aluyi, West Division Second-Team All-Stars include Emanuel Liyaw (Kitchener) of Conestoga College; and Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor) of St. Clair. Comprising the East Division Second-Team All-Stars are Albert Opena (Ottawa) of Algonquin College; Sean Marseille (Paris, France) and Trey Wilson (Barrie) of Georgian; Julien Duker (Toronto) of St. Lawrence College; and Amari N'daw (Scarborough) of Seneca.
In addition to Buckley, West Division All-Rookie Team members include Amare Anderson (Milton) of Humber; Milos Lukac (Hamilton) of Lambton; Paul Omofoma (Calgary, Alta.) of Mohawk; and Noah Li (Toronto) of Niagara.
Along with Ajose, the East Division All-Rookie Team is made up of Aydin Gilani (Ottawa) of Algonquin; Daniel Ndikumana (Ottawa) of Collège La Cité; Nathan Walters-Sundararajah (Toronto) of Fleming College; and Jack Mundell (Kingston) of St. Lawrence.
