SUDBURY, Ont. - St. Clair College men's basketball team elevated themselves to the playoffs with a pair of wins over Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ont., this past weekend.
Saturday night the Saints defeated Cambrian 94-52 with second-year point guard Max Reiner (Amherstburg, Ont./General Amherst) leading five Saints in double figures with 14 points. Trevon Mollison (13 points), Akim Ruot (13 points), Gil Atencio (11 points) and Charles Baskin (10 points) were the other St. Clair top scorers.
St. Clair topped Cambrian 107-74 Sunday afternoon and seven Saints scored double digits with fourth-year point guard Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) leading the way with 16 points to go with five assists. Atencio (14 points), Mollison (13 points), Ruot (12 points), D'Angelo Knox (11 points), Reiner (10 points) and Lance Drummonds (10 points) also reached double figures.
St. Clair will await official word on their opponent from the east region but will be on the road this weekend to face the third-place team in a crossover game to qualify for the OCAA provincial championship.
