SENECA 79, LA CITE 56
TORONTO - A pair of three-point losses to start the season can put a team in a tailspin that affects their entire season.
The Seneca Sting righted the ship on Saturday night against the La Cité Coyotes, taking the game over in the second half to cruise to a 79-56 win.
The game started slow, the Sting having played the previous night while the Coyotes took the long bus ride from Ottawa earlier in the afternoon. Jordan Burton (Toronto) opened the scoring with a mid-range jumper just over three minutes into the opening quarter.
The Coyotes, finding their legs, began to take the action to the Sting, opening a 14-8 lead before a pair of field goals by the Sting closed out the quarter.
An evenly matched second quarter saw the Sting take a six-point lead before the Coyotes battled back to tie things up heading into the half.
The Sting dominated in the second half, outscoring the Coyotes 22-11 in the third quarter and 26-14 in the fourth, receiving scoring from 10 players in the second half alone.
Felix Adjei (Toronto) led the Sting with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Adrian Tucker (Scarborough) had 11 points, shooting 50 per cent from the floor. Donte James (Scarborough) had eight points and six rebounds while four others scored six points each.
Hess Mayele scored 26 points for the Coyotes on 10-of-14 shooting while also recording a game-high 10 rebounds. Ricardo Belony scored eight points while Joseph Mulungu scored six points and had nine rebounds.
The Sting travel to Loyalist on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. while the Coyotes get back in action tomorrow against the George Brown Huskies.
