FANSHAWE 92, SAULT 52
LONDON, Ont. - On Saturday night at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre, the Fanshawe Falcons (10-3) men's basketball team came away with the 40-point victory over the Sault Cougars (0-13). The final score was 92-52. Ryan Pflanzner led the way for the Falcons with a game-high 27 points including seven three-pointers.
The game saw some fantastic shooting from the outside by the Falcons. Pflanzner and Connor Therrien each nailed two three-pointers apiece in the first quarter to give Fanshawe an early lead. The Falcons led by double digits going into the second quarter with a score of 21-8.
In the second quarter, Moses Orozco-Rayo hit a big three-point shot to extend the lead to 14. The Falcons showed intensity on defence, holding the Cougars to just 22 points in the first half. Fanshawe closed the half on a high note when Ernest Tolete hit a three-point buzzer beater, pushing the lead to 21, 43-22.
Fanshawe's team shooting stayed hot in the third, with Pflanzner and Therrien both knocking down a number of three-point baskets. Fanshawe led by 30 points heading into the fourth quarter. The Cougars were unable to come back as the Falcons pulled away and won the game 92-52.
The Falcons host the Sault Cougars again on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.
