FANSHAWE 75, ST. CLAIR 71
LONDON, Ont. - On Thursday night, the Fanshawe Falcons men's basketball team defeated the St Clair Saints (2-4) by a final score of 75-71. Adam Jesperson led the way offensively with 25 points, followed by Chris Stanhope with 19.
Fanshawe jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter with Dante Holder scoring a quick six points. The Saints closed the gap but Fanshawe's Ryan Pflanzner knocked down a key three pointer to give the Falcons a 13-8 lead after one quarter. The Saints slowly chipped away and even took the lead 26-25 heading into the half.
The pace picked up in the second half, with both teams moving the ball well around the perimeter. Fanshawe held a one-point lead halfway through the third, when Jesperson hit a shot from outside the arc to give the Falcons the four-point advantage. St. Clair tied the game until Stanhope knocked down the runner in the lane to give Fanshawe a two point lead, 47-45, heading into the final quarter.
After a heated fourth quarter of action, the Falcons took control on the defensive end. After the Saints tied the game and just 28 seconds left to play, the Falcons ran a play to get Jesperson the ball and he knocked down the jumper to take the lead. After a miss by St. Clair, the Saints were forced to foul and Jeperson calmly hit both free throws to put the game out of reach. Fanshawe would win by a final score of 75-71.

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team fell by a score of 75-71 in London, Ont., to Fanshawe College on Thursday night in OCAA west region action.
After a slow start the Saints were able to pull ahead 26-25 by halftime. Fanshawe responded and took a small lead (47-45) into the fourth quarter where both teams put together a high scoring frame.
St. Clair fell behind early in the final period but tied the game at 71-71 with a few minutes to play. Fanshawe was able to get to the line to put the game away. Fanshawe held a 51-32 advantage in rebounding that led to 24 second-chance points. The Saints were able to negate the rebounding advantage making eight triples but had to hoist 34 attempts and converted only 23.5 per cent from that distance.
Rookie guard Nicholas Campbell (Brampton, Ont.) scored 17 points to lead the Saints adding six rebounds. Stephan Gray (Milton, Ont.) reached double figures chipping in with 10 points and four steals for St. Clair.
Fanshawe's Adam Jesperson (London, Ont.) scored 25 points with 10 rebounds to lead his team in the win.
