TORONTO - A couple of late game insurance free throws by Emmanuel Mukuna and Curtis Baanee added comfort to excitement for the George Brown Huskies who beat the Seneca College Sting 81-78 in a very physical men's basketball league opener for both.
Ahead 41-38 at halftime, and then up by 14 points, the Huskies appeared to have the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association game in control. But, Seneca had other plans.
And, there's no love between these two teams - especially on a night in which former Seneca player and George Brown grad Vadim Halimov had his playing jersey retired before tip-off.
George Brown led 79-78 with 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Mukuna clicked on the first bonus shot, missed the second. Then, Baanee missed the first and made the second. Akai Nettey had 19 points, Ricardo Brown added 16 and Kasey Morris tossed in 15 for the Huskies.
