CENTENNIAL 89, DURHAM 84
SCARBOROUGH, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team dropped an 89-84 decision to the Centennial Colts on Wednesday night in Scarborough.
After trailing by a single point at the half, Centennial would catch fire going on an 18-4 run to take a 12-point advantage into the fourth quarter. Durham would show a lot of fight as they were able to come back to tie the game up with just under three minutes left on the clock. However, Centennial would manage to regroup and pull out a five-point victory on their home court.
Durham was led offensively by Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) who had 26 points and 11 rebounds, but the Lords big man turned the ball over 11 times which resulted in easy points for the Colts. Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.) recorded 23 points in the loss.
Joseph Wani had a big night for Centennial as he had 17 points and 16 rebounds. This was Wani's second straight game recording 16 boards.
With five games remaining in the regular season, Durham (6-9) is now in a must-win situation against the Loyalist Lancers (6-8) on Tuesday night at the CRWC. The OCAA East region standings are tight with only four points separating second to eighth.
