SHERIDAN 109, FANSHAWE 84
LONDON, Ont. - On Thursday night, in their final regular season home game of the year, the Fanshawe men's basketball team (11-6) were defeated by the CCAA No. 5 ranked Sheridan Bruins (15-2) by a final score of 109-84. Fanshawe holds onto fourth place in the OCAA West Division with one regular season game remaining.
Both teams came out flying to start the game, running the ball on every opportunity. The game was tied at 10 with only three minutes gone by in the game until the Bruins went on a 12-0 run and took a commanding lead.
Fanshawe's Alex Thompson scored five straight points to cut into the lead but Sheridan was up 34-23 after the first quarter. Sheridan extended their lead in the second, knocking down six three pointers in the quarter alone. Sheridan led 61-38 at the half.
Fanshawe cut the lead to 18 but again the Bruins ran off 10 straight and were ahead 76-48 with four minutes left in the quarter. The Falcons showed some life but found themselves down by 29 with one quarter to play.
In the fourth quarter, the Bruins continued to knock down the three, hitting an impressive 14-of-30 for the game. Sheridan went on to win by a final score of 109-84.
Fanshawe will play on the road next Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. versus the CCAA No. 8 ranked Mohawk Mountaineers (13-3).
