NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers men's varsity basketball team lost their first game of second semester to the first-place Algonquin Thunder in the Education Centre gymnasium.
Cambrian's top scorer was Carter Maschi with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Algonquin Thunder continued their undefeated streak, winning their 11th game of the season. Thirty of their 91 points came from Njuguna Waiganjo, who was on the court for the better part of the game, sitting out for only 2:40 of play. Canadore Panthers rookie, Maschi, had his very first start of the season, and proved that he deserved it, scoring the most points of the team.
Cambrian assistant coach Kim Malkowski says, "We played very well for a young team against a very experienced Algonquin team, that showed why they are undefeated in the league this year. Hopefully we keep it up and we'll regroup for tomorrow's game."
Player of the game Maschi commented on his performance, "I'm really excited about the next couple games to show just how good I can play."
