DURHAM 88, FLEMING 74
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team earned an 88-74 victory over Fleming on Friday night at the CRWC.
Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) made his conference debut for Durham and had an immediate impact as he recorded 27 points and 15 rebounds in the win. Smith suffered a shoulder injury during the finals of the David Steward Tip-Off tournament which put him on the sidelines for the Lords' first seven games.
Durham pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Fleming 29-16 to take a 15-point lead into the locker room at the half. The Lords would extend their lead to as many as 18 points in the second half, as they cruised to their second win of the season.
Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.) also had a
double-double for Durham with 21 points and 12 rebounds, as he
racked up 40 minutes of play. Clarke also showed off his playmaking
abilities with six assists in the win. Saliym
Cadogan chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds and three
steals.
Fleming was led by Daniel Gordon who had 21
points and eight rebounds in the loss.
With the win, Durham jumps back in the playoff picture as they are
tied with three teams with two wins. Fleming drops their eighth
straight game to start the year.
Durham has a tough test ahead of them as they travel to Barrie to
take on the Georgian Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies
sit in fifth place with a 5-3 record.
