CENTENNIAL 65, ST. LAWRENCE (K) 59
The St. Lawrence College women's and men's basketball teams played the Centennial College Colts on Saturday, November 17.
The women's team won convincingly by a score of 73-54. For the first half of the game, the Vikings were playing a dominating game offensively and were leading 34-19 at the half. Centennial would respond in the third quarter by scoring 20 points, with Tamara James-Francis leading the team with 13 points. But the Vikings would stick to their game plan and hold on for the win. Similarly to their game on Wednesday against Durham College, St. Lawrence played extremely well defensively to hold the Colts to only 19 points during the first half. Lacey Knox led the team in scoring as she shot 58 percent from the field with 30 points. Jessica Cetoute dominated the glass once again by controlling 19 rebounds.
The next game for women's team will take place at home on Wednesday November 21 against the Fleming College Knights. Tip-off time is 6 p.m.
The Colts men's team entered their game with a perfect 4-0 record, and improved to 5-0 as they defeated the Vikings by a score of 65-59. However, the score does not give justice to the Vikings effort in this game, as after the first quarter the team was only down by five points. At the start of the second half, the Vikings found themselves down by 12 and were looking to respond and pull off an upset. In the fourth quarter the Vikings came alive scoring 20 points, to Centennial's 11 but it was too late and SLC came up only six points short from tying. Team veteran Terence Thomas shot 7-of-19 and scored 20 points, with Jahmal Edwards bringing down 13 rebounds.
The men's team will also face Fleming College on Wednesday November 21, at 8 p.m. in the SLC gymnasium.
