FANSHAWE 87, ST. LAWRENCE 46 (FINAL)
KINGSTON, Ont. - The St. Lawrence Vikings men's basketball team was no match for the Fanshawe Falcons in an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association playoff game, played Saturday, Feb. 25 at the SLC gym.
The visiting Falcons won 87-46 to advance to the OCAA final-eight championship tournament, March 1-3 at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
Meanwhile, the Vikings season comes to an end.
It was a tough game for the Vikings to win as the team's leading rebounder, Jahmal Edwards, was unable to play due to injury. With that loss, just eight healthy players were dressed, compared to 12 for Fanshawe.
The Vikings kept the score close in the first quarter, as it ended with the score 15-14 for Fanshawe. But the Falcons dominated the second quarter, outscoring the home team 27-11 to take a 42-25 lead into the half.
The game was never in doubt from there.
The Vikings were led by Terence Thomas, of Ottawa, who scored a game-high 19 points. He played all 40 minutes.
Three Falcons hit double digits in points. Boyd Vassell led the team with 16 points. Jordan Dixon recorded 15 points and Joel Williams had 12 points.
