NIAGARA 76, ST. CLAIR 59 (FINAL)
The Niagara College Knights men's basketball team won a pair of weekend road games in Southwestern Ontario to improve to 5-1 and move into first place in the OCAA West region.
On Sunday, the Knights downed the St. Clair College Saints 76-59 in Windsor. Second-year guard Jimmy Bilenga scored a season high 27 points including shooting 11-of-18 (61 percent) from the field. First-year guards Alex Campbell and Ashston Stephenson from Brampton, Ont., chipped in
with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
A pair of rookies led St. Clair in scoring with Elijah Hesley (Windsor/Riverside) scoring 15 points including three makes from behind the three-point arc. Anthony DeRose (Belle River/St. Anne) was the other St. Clair player to reach double figures but all of his 11 points came in the first half.
The St. Clair men travel this weekend to face Sheridan (Brampton) on Saturday and Humber (Etobicoke) on Sunday before returning home to face Fanshawe (London) on Friday, Dec. 2 in their final league games before the holiday break.
The Knights will now host the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves in an exhibition game on Wednesday. Game time is 8 p.m. The Knights will return to league play and go for their fourth straight win on Saturday when they travel to Ancaster, Ont., to take on the Redeemer University College Royals (3-2). Game time is 4 p.m.
The Knights next home game will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 30 when they battle the Sheridan College Bruins (3-2). Game time is 8 p.m.
