HAWKS REPEATS IN MEN'S INDOOR SOCCER
VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Humber Hawks successfully defended its Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) men's indoor soccer championship with a win over the George Brown Huskies in a penalty shoot out in the gold medal match.
VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Humber Hawks successfully defended its Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) men's indoor soccer championship with a win over the George Brown Huskies in a penalty shoot out in the gold medal match.
Tied 1-1 after overtime, Humber prevailed on goal kicks to add to its record 17th overall OCAA men's indoor soccer banner.
The Hawks went undefeated at the championship, going 3-0-0 in round robin play on Mar. 6, outscoring their opponents 8-4. Humber required penalty shoot-outs in both playoff games, defeating Conestoga in the semi-finals after going scoreless in regulation and overtime.
Humber third-year defender Luca Pinto (Toronto) was named Championship MVP while Hawks first-year goalkeeper Peter Sheberstov (Richmond Hill) was named a Championship All-Star.
George Brown first-year goalkeeper Joseph Agostino (Bolton) was named Top Goalkeeper while fourth-year player Mark Do Coito (Toronto) and fifth-year striker Yonis Jama (Toronto) of the Huskies were named Championship All-Stars.
In the bronze medal game, the Conestoga Condors prevailed 3-2 over the Fanshawe Falcons. Conestoga third-year player Alex Tutunjian (Cambridge) was named a Championship All-Star.
