OCAA NAMES MAJOR GOLF AWARDS WINNERS

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is proud to announce its major golf award recipients for 2024.

Kevin Corriveau of the St. Clair Saints has bee named OCAA Coach of the Year for the second straight year. A long-time member of the OCAA coaching fraternity, Corriveau led the Saints men's team to their first-ever OCAA championship, and the women's team to a silver medal at the recent OCAA championships. Corriveau is the OCAA nominee for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year.

Susan Chen (China) of the Humber Hawks and Nathan Lepore (Thunder Bay, Ont.) of the Confederation Thunderhawks are the inaugural OCAA Rookies of the Year. Chen was the women's individual silver medalist at the OCAA championship, finishing two strokes behind the leader. Lepore was the men's individual silver medalist, losing on the playoff hole to the champion.

Confederation's Griffen Wiersema (Amherstview, Ont.) was named the OCAA Fair Play Award winner for displaying a terrific attitude throughout the championship.

Members of the men's OCAA All-Ontario Team are based on the top five individual scorers from the OCAA championships, including ties. They include champion Matt Morris (St. Catharines, Ont.) of Humber, silver medalist Lepore, bronze medalist Spencer Higginbottom (Lakeshore, Ont.) of St. Clair, fourth-place finisher Ben Landers (Delaware, Ont.) of the Fanshawe Falcons, and fifth-place finishers Luke Evans (Georgetown, Ont.) of Fanshawe and Steven Hill (Saint Anns, Ont.) of St. Clair.

Members of the women's OCAA All-Ontario Team are based on the top four individual scorers from the OCAA championships, including ties. They include champion Elaine Surjoprajogo (Brampton, Ont.) of Humber, silver medalist Chen, bronze medalist Bryden Dilley (Barrie, Ont.) of the Georgian Grizzlies, and fourth-place finisher Jordon Newlands (Toronto, Ont.) of Humber.
