KATIE FERGUSON APPOINTED 2011 CCAA GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR
The CCAA has appointed Katie Ferguson the 2011 CCAA Golf Coach of the Year. Ferguson coaches men and women’s varsity golf at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.

"Katie Ferguson is good for the national development of the sport," says Albert Roche, CCAA's national golf convenor. "She will help the CCAA's golf program grow to the next level."
Ferguson was a member of the CN Canadian Women's Tour for six years, and is certified by the Canadian Professional Golfers' Association. She is a former star athlete for the Georgian College Grizzlies, twice winning CCAA and OCAA golf championships. She is also a three-time SIRC-CCAA Academic All-Canadian who understands the importance of combining academics with athletics at the collegiate level.
Her experience and expertise has been instrumental in developing student-athletes during her six years coaching the Georgian Grizzles. She also serves as a guest lecturer and instructor for Georgian College's professional golf management program.
This season the Georgian College Grizzlies men and women's golf teams each won a silver medal at the 2011 OCAA Golf Championships, and team member Jasmine Paton earned a women's individual bronze.
Other nominees for the award were Jodi Campbell of Grant MacEwan University, Alta.; Fred Colgan of Champlain St. Lawrence, Que.; and John Randle of Camosun College, B.C.
Katie Ferguson received the award Tuesday, October 18 at the
CCAA All-Canadian Banquet at the 2011 PING CCAA Golf National
Championships in Roseneath, P.E.I. All CCAA Coach of the Year
recipients receive a customized CCAA ring provided by Jostens
Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards
Banquet.
