Student-athletes are nominated by their respective athletic departments.
Marko Dosen
School: Mohawk
Program: Business Fundamentals
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Hamilton, Ont.
Marko Dosen had a career-best weekend in an 87-80 victory over the St. Clair Saints on Nov. 7. The big man recorded 28 points — one shy of his career high — and 15 rebounds, matching his career best. Marko was an efficient 10-of-18 from the field. The fourth-year forward carried his dominant play into the following day with 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting and 14 rebounds in a 78-71 win over the Lambton Lions. Marko now has four double-doubles in six games, ranks fourth in the OCAA in points per game and first in rebounds per game.
Harry Lutumba-Moongo
School: Humber
Program: Fitness & Health
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Rugby
Hometown: Scarborough, Ont.
Harry Lutumba-Moongo helped lead the Humber Hawks back to the OCAA gold medal match in men's rugby. The second-year prop scored the game-winning try in Humber's thrilling 15-12 victory over the Georgian Grizzlies on Nov. 8 in the OCAA semifinals. Harry's first try of the season couldn't have come at a better time. Harry and the Hawks now set their sights on becoming the first team to achieve back-to-back OCAA banners for the first time in six years when they visit undefeated Durham in the OCAA championship match on Sunday.
Autumn Mikel
School: Fanshawe
Program: Early Childhood Leadership
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Volleyball
Hometown: Mitchell, Ont.
Autumn Mikel was the driving offensive force behind the Falcons over the weekend, helping Fanshawe win back-to-back matches against the Sault Cougars. In Game 1 on Nov. 8, Autumn contributed a match-high 17 points on 16 kills and one service ace while adding a dozen digs as Fanshawe outlasted its opponents in five sets. The following day the first-year outside hitter tallied 14 points on 13 kills and one ace along with seven digs in a four-set victory. Autumn finished the weekend doubleheader with 31 points, 29 kills and 19 digs defensively.
Yaroslav Svidritskiy
School: George Brown
Program: Game - Programming
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Volleyball
Hometown: Vaughan, Ont.
Yaroslav Svidritskiy was a juggernaut over the weekend for the George Brown Huskies, posting 42 points on 32 kills and 10 service aces, while adding 11 digs over two matches. Yaroslav was unstoppable in George Brown's straight sets sweep over the St. Lawrence Surge on Nov. 8, tallying a match-high 18 points on a dozen kills and six service aces while recording a team-high five digs. Despite losing the following day to the Canadore Panthers in four sets, Yaroslav led all players with 20 kills, four aces and 24 points while adding six digs.
Sophia VanRaalte
School: Redeemer
Program: Kinesiology
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Ancaster, Ont.
Sophia VanRaalte has put the OCAA on notice. The first-year forward has been dominant, and her most recent game showcased this. Leading the Redeemer Royals to their first win of the season on Nov. 4 with only one player on their bench, Sophia recorded her first career double-double with a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds, adding one assist, one steal and a pair of blocks. One of these blocks helped seal the 71-65 win over the Conestoga Condors in the final minute. Sophia is the current league leader in blocks with 14.
