CENTENNIAL COLLEGE 2012-13 ATHLETIC AWARDS
TORONTO - On Wednesday, April 3, Centennial College Athletics and Recreation hosted its 46th Annual Athletic Awards Banquet.
TORONTO - On Wednesday, April 3, Centennial College Athletics
and Recreation hosted its 46th Annual Athletic Awards Banquet. The
event was held inside of the Progress Campus Athletic and Wellness
Centre. This year's Awards Banquet was a special night as it
included the Centennial's first-ever Athletics Hall of Fame
induction ceremony. Fifteen Athletes, Coaches, and Builders, were
inducted into the Centennial COLTS Hall of Fame. A crowd of 200
were in attendance to honour our student-athletes and Hall of Fame
Inductees.
The Class of 2013 Hall of Fame Inductees included Sue
Brown - Builder; John Child - Athlete;
Wallace Coomansingh - Athlete; Coreen
Flemming - Builder; Helen Folker - Coach; Pat
Fyffe - Builder; Chuck Gullickson -
Builder; Cindy Horton - Athlete; Sharon
Ikola - Builder; Cynthia Kane - Athlete;
Blair Rossen - Athlete; Carol
Slipetz - Coach; Lesreen Thomas -
Athlete; Jim Wolch - Coach; and Mary
Zettel - Builder. Each inductee was given a special
customized COLTS Head award.
This year's award winners included Male Athlete of the Year
Jameel Williamson of the men's basketball team.
Jameel is an all-around leader and is the captain of the COLTS
men's basketball team. Jameel garnered a number of accolades
throughout the season, the Ryson Rams RUNIT Tournament MVP,
Sheridan Bruins Classic Tournament MVP, OCAA Athlete of the Week,
OCAA First-Team All Star, and Centennial COLTS Men's Basketball
MVP.
Female Athlete of the Year Chelsea Gordon, was a
linchpin of the team's success this year. Chelsea led the OCAA
bronze medalist Centennial COLTS women's soccer team as their team
captain. She was also chosen as the Women's Soccer Team MVP. During
the season she was named OCAA Defensive Player of The Year as well
as an OCAA All-Star.
Rookie of the Year Mark Tarazhi, was recently
named co-captain of the varsity men's soccer team. Mark is very
mature for his age and helped to lead the team on and off the field
this past season. He is the team assist leader and one of the
leading goal scorers. He was named the OCAA Rookie of the Year as
well as the Men's Soccer Team MVP.
This year's season was particularly successful as all teams made
it into the post-season. This has not happened at the school for
the last eight years. A highlight of the season was four players
receiving the OCAA Athlete of the Week award as well as being named
to 13 OCAA awards, and receiving two OCAA All-Academic Awards.

Centennial added a new athletic award, which was the All-Academic
Team Award. This award is awarded to the team with the highest
average GPA. This year's recipient of the team award with an
average GPA of 3.39 was the men's soccer team. Paul
Clarke was the recipient of the Dennis Macdonald Honourary
COLT Award for his 32 years of service which he gave the college as
a Coach and Administrator.
