TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Teams of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 25.
Fanshawe Curling
The Fanshawe Falcons earned double gold at the 2012 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Curling Invitational Championship. Both titles came down to extra ends, as Chris Jay and his men's rink edged Red Deer 5-4, while Chantal Lalonde and her women's rink defeated Grande Prairie 6-4. Fanshawe last won a national curling title in 1988. This marked the first time the CCAA held a curling championship since 1990.
Humber Indoor Soccer
The Humber Hawks repeated as men's and women's indoor soccer champions, completing an OCAA soccer sweep for the second straight season. Both teams had similar paths to gold, each going 2-0-1 in the round robin. In the semi-finals, the men used extra time to defeat Sheridan 2-1, while the women needed penalty kicks to upend Durham 2-1. Both teams met Seneca in the finals, with the men and women winning 3-0 and 4-0, respectively.
