Athletic Association (OCAA) Teams of the Week for the period ending
Sunday, Feb. 12.
Algonquin Men's Basketball
The Algonquin Thunder have done twice what no other team has been
able to do during the 2011-12 regular season. Algonquin defeated
Centennial (16-2) for the second time this season, a 77-69 decision
at home on Feb. 10. Algonquin then avenged an earlier overtime loss
to Fleming-Peterborough, winning 60-51 at home on Feb. 11. With a
15-3 record, the Thunder have already secured their spot at next
month's OCAA championship tournament, hosted by Algonquin.
Fanshawe Women's Volleyball
The Fanshawe Falcons have won six straight matches, including a
significant 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 9-25, 25-20) win over Nipissing on
Feb. 11. With the victory, the Falcons moved ahead of Nipissing
into second place in the OCAA West region standings. With a 3-0
(25-23, 25-15, 25-23) win over Canadore on Feb. 12, Fanshawe (14-3)
can clinch a spot at the OCAA championship tournament with a
victory in its regular season finale at Mohawk on Feb. 15.
