MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Championship Saturday brought the 2026 OCAA Curling Championships to a close at the Dixie Curling Centre, with three provincial titles decided across men's, women's and mixed doubles competition.
After three consecutive bronze medal finishes, the Sault College Cougars men's team broke through, capturing their first provincial gold since going back-to-back in 2014 and 2015. In women's play, the Niagara Knights controlled the hammer when it mattered most, earning their first provincial title in seven years. In mixed doubles action, Niagara-1 claimed gold and rounded out the championship schedule.
Men's Curling
With a spot in the gold medal game on the line, the Humber Hawks faced the heavily favoured Mohawk Mountaineers. Mohawk held the hammer and a narrow 5-4 lead after five ends, but Humber delivered a clutch performance down the stretch, stealing points in the remaining ends to secure an 8-5 win. In the other semifinal, the Sault College Cougars edged the Durham Lords with a single point in the eighth end to capture a 7-6 victory.
The Mountaineers cruised past the Lords in the bronze medal game with a 7-3 win. This marked Mohawk's seventh consecutive OCAA medal in men's curling.
In the gold medal draw, the Cougars set the tone early with a commanding 8-2 lead through the first four ends. Humber showed some life with a two-point fifth end, but the Cougars immediately answered to maintain control. Sault went on to win 9-4 and claimed the provincial title after Humber conceded the game in the seventh end.
The Sault College Cougars returned to the top of the podium for the first time since back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.
Women's Curling
The Niagara Knights dominated in semifinal action, breaking the game open against the Durham Lords with multiple multi-point ends to win 12-2. In the other semifinal, as expected, the Humber Hawks and the Mohawk Mountaineers were locked in a tight battle, but Humber capitalized in the extra end to secure a 5-4 win and advance to the gold medal game.
The Mountaineers rebounded in the bronze medal game with a convincing performance against Durham. With a 10-1 win, Mohawk are your back-to-back OCAA bronze medalist.
The gold medal game between Humber and Niagara had a dramatic finish. Niagara carried a slim 5-4 lead into the eighth end, when Humber skip Hailey Brittain placed the last stone directly on the button to apply late pressure. On the final shot, however, Niagara skip Julia Markle threw a takeout to remove Humber's stone from the four-foot, allowing the Knights to score multiple points and close out a 9-4 victory.
The Niagara Knights were crowned OCAA women's curling champions for the first time since 2018.
What's next?
