CINDY BISHOP TO LEAD NEW HUMBER CURLING TEAM

TORONTO – Humber College is pleased to announce the hiring of Cindy Bishop as the head coach of the new men's and women's curling program.

Cindy brings over 14 years of national and international coaching experience to Humber. Nationally she has served as the Provincial High Performance Coach in Ontario and New Brunswick. On the international ice she has been the national coach for both Team Austria and Team Netherlands Ladies.

As a curling professional and manager at the Weston Golf & Country Club she is a true ambassador and active advocate of the sport of curling. The Curling Club at Weston houses a number of local High School teams and events, and Cindy is excited to take this curling base to the post secondary level.  

"Initiating a new program always comes with a certain amount of excitement and also with a bit of a fear factor as to how the team will compete so early in its existence," said Humber Athletic Director Doug Fox. "But with Cindy at the helm, I am confident that the team will progress quickly as she has both a passion and vast knowledge of the game."

The Humber Hawks will participate in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, which currently has 12 teams from across the province competing for provincial honours. The provincial championships will be held in Sault Ste. Marie on February 16–19, 2012.
