GEORGE BROWN 12, SENECA 1
MARKHAM, Ont. - George Brown's two-game winning streak came to an end, but the Huskies started another one.
Seneca College won its first game in 14 starts beating George Brown 7-2 in the first half of an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association doubleheader at Bishop's Cross Park. But in the second game, it was all George Brown with a 12-1 game called after five innings because of the league mercy rule.
Amanuel Yosief (Toronto) got tagged with the loss in the first game while the Huskies could only manage five hits with Emilio Paglia (Maple, Ont.) getting George Brown's only extra base hit, a triple, which also scored a run.
In the second game, Jason Fotes (Toronto) pitched a complete game as George Brown's bats came alive. Joseph was 3-for-3, scored two runs and had a RBI. David Goodman (Richmond Hill, Ont.), playing against his former team, went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and scored a run. Andrew Murrell (Pickering, Ont.) was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base.
George Brown is now tied with Durham for the final playoff spot, but Durham has played three fewer games.
