Fanshawe, Men's Curling
The Fanshawe Falcons returned home from curling nationals in Edmonton with a bronze medal. Fanshawe finished in second place in the round robin with a record of 5-2, before losing a heartbreaker in the semifinal, losing 9-8 to MacEwan in extra ends. It is their second medal in as many years.
Sheridan, Men's Indoor Soccer
The Sheridan Bruins won their first OCAA men's indoor soccer championship in three seasons. After securing first place in their round robin pool with a 2-1 record, Sheridan edged Seneca 1-0 in the semifinals before downing defending champion Humber 3-0 in the gold medal match.
Fanshawe, Women's Curling
The Fanshawe Falcons repeated as national women's curling champions in Edmonton, defeating NAIT 8-5 in the gold medal match. Fanshawe defeated NAIT 7-4 earlier in the tournament. The Falcons earned a bye into the final after soaring to the top of the round robin standings with a 6-1 record.
Humber, Women's Indoor Soccer
The Humber Hawks tied their own OCAA record by winning their third consecutive women's indoor soccer championship. Humber defeated Seneca 2-0 in the goal medal match. It also marked the third straight season the Hawks won both the outdoor and indoor titles, also a first in OCAA history.

Nipissing, Men's Volleyball
The Nipissing Lakers won their first national men's volleyball championship in school history, while becoming the second straight OCAA program to win at nationals, joining last year's Humber squad. Prior to 2012, the OCAA had just one national champion in men's volleyball, the 1983 Sheridan Bruins.

Sheridan, Men's Basketball
Sheridan won its first OCAA championship in five seasons, defeating defending national champion Mohawk 88-70 in the gold medal game. Sheridan trailed by 14 points at one point in the second quarter before rallying. The Bruins take a 10-game win streak into nationals later this month.
Algonquin, Women's Basketball
Algonquin went undefeated for the second time in three seasons for a record-tying third straight OCAA championship. Defensively, the Thunder limited the opposition to an average of 38 points per game at the tournament. Algonquin has defeated OCAA opponents in 39 straight meetings.

Nipissing, Men's Volleyball
Better late than never. In its last OCAA season, the Nipissing Lakers won their first provincial championship, outlasting Mohawk in an epic five-set finale. Nipissing will now compete at nationals at Niagara College next month. The Lakers are on the move to Ontario University Athletics next season.
Humber, Women's Volleyball
Humber ran the table for the second consecutive season, winning its sixth straight OCAA championship. The Hawks have an unblemished record of 42-0 over the past two OCAA seasons. Humber didn't lose a set in three matches at provincials. The Hawks will compete at nationals next month.

Fanshawe, Men's Curling
Fanshawe won its second men's curling title in three seasons. The Falcons did it in dramatic fashion, winning two tiebreakers just to earn a berth into the semifinal. Fanshawe squeaked by defending OCAA champion Sault 6-5 in the semifinal before defeating Confederation 7-3 in the gold medal match.
Humber, Men's Badminton
Humber has won an OCAA badminton title in each of the past four seasons. The Hawks won the men's team banner on the strength of Tim Chiu's men's singles title, Chris Dupuis' singles bronze medal, Ryan Chow's mixed doubles gold medal, and silver medals by Ra Seang and Johnny Truong in men's doubles.
Niagara, Women's Curling
Niagara won its first-ever women's curling provincial championship, and first OCAA curling title since its mixed team won gold in 1997. The Knights survived two sudden death matches that went to extra ends to secure the tile. Niagara vice Melissa Borowski (Welland) was named a first-team all-star.
Seneca, Women's Badminton
Seneca earned its first OCAA badminton championship since 1977. The Sting won the women's crown on the strength of Carol Dela Cerna's singles title, as well as as the silver medals awarded to Katie Liu and Chessy Jian in women's doubles. Dela Cerna advances to nationals later this month.
Fanshawe, Mixed Curling
Fanshawe went 6-0 in the round robin, and prevailed 6-5 in extra ends for its first OCAA mixed curling title since 1987. The entire Fanshawe team comprised of Peter Mulders (St. Thomas), Anya Hildebrandt (Iroquois Falls), Rob Ingram (Ridgetown) and Karen Lalonde (Orillia) were named tournament all-stars.

George Brown, Men's Basketball
Seneca has lost just two games this season, both to downtown rival George Brown. The Huskies ended Seneca's 12-game win streak with a 95-83 victory. First-year guard Dejazmatch James (Toronto) scored a team-high 22 points for George Brown. The Huskies are in a chase for a top-two finish in the OCAA East.
La Cite, Women's Volleyball
La Cite Coyotes kept their post-season chances alive with a pair of wins. This included a five-set upset over playoff bound Georgian, as Marie-France Cayer (Winchester) and Adama Soumah (Conakry, Guinea) contributed 15 points each win the victory. La Cite must still defeat crosstown rival Algonquin to remain in contention.

Niagara, Men's Basketball
Niagara defeated defending OCAA and national champion Mohawk 105-93. It was an all-around team effort, as Jimmy Bilenga (Hamilton) had a game-high 25 points, while Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) and Alex Campbell (Brampton) both contributed double-doubles.
Cambrian, Women's Volleyball
Led by new OCAA career points leader Shawna Metcalf (Azilda), the Cambrian Golden Shield earned a key 3-1 win at Trent to move into sole possession of second place in the OCAA East with three games remaining. The top two teams advance directly into the OCAA championship.

Canadore, Men's Basketball
It was a victory 20 years in the making. Canadore defeated Lambton 70-69 for its first win since the 1992-93 season, the last time the Panthers participated in OCAA men's basketball. Second-year forward Christian Casimier (Scarborough) scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Georgian, Women's Basketball
Georgian put an end to a 13-game losing streak with a thrilling 61-59 victory over Centennial, a team currently positioned to make the OCAA playoffs. First-year forward Anges Bartosik (Barrie) earned a double-double in the win, scoring 20 points while grabbing 15 rebounds.

Redeemer, Men's Basketball
The Redeemer Royals won their sixth game of the season, establishing a new school record in men's basketball. The previous mark of four wins was set in 1997-98 and equalled in 1999-2000. Third-year forward Calvin Turnbull (Burlington) has earned double-doubles in five straight games.
St. Clair, Women's Volleyball
The St. Clair Saints tripled their regular season win total in just one road swing, winning at Niagara and Mohawk by identical 3-1 scores. Fourth-year left side Alee Brecka (Windsor) leads the team in points per set averaging 2.5. Ironically, all three of its victories have come away from St. Clair.

Redeemer, Men's Volleyball
They did it again. Redeemer defeated No. 1 nationally-ranked Nipissing for a second time this season, this time in a five-set comeback. Eric Heidbuurt (Waterdown) led Redeemer with 11 kills and 15 points. Both teams sit on top of the OCAA West with 9-2 records, with Redeemer holding the tie breaker.
Algonquin, Women's Volleyball
After a slow start, Algonquin has won five straight to move two games above .500. During the win streak, Algonquin has lost only one set, and handed Trent just its second loss of the campaign in straight sets. Alixandra Burkat (Kenora) and Breann Wheeler (Owen Sound) are averaging 2.5 points per set.

George Brown, Men's Volleyball
With a straight sets win over Georgian, George Brown finished the first half of the regular season with an 8-2 record, a turnaround for a team that had an 8-12 record in 2011-12. Second-year player Edwin Sheon (Toronto) is among the league leaders averaging 4.0 points per set.
Trent, Women's Volleyball
With a 3-1 win over crosstown rival Fleming, Trent has a 9-1 record heading into the holiday break, good for top spot in the OCAA East region. Third-year player Sarah Norton (Arnprior) is averaging 3.2 points per set. Trent plays host to the OCAA championship in February.

Seneca, Men's Basketball
Seneca is one of three teams tied on top of the OCAA East standings with a mark of 8-1, a vast improvement over last season's record of 8-12. Seneca is currently on a six-game win streak, including its most recent victory, 70-68 over Algonquin. Felix Adjei (Toronto) scored 28 points in the win.
St. Clair, Women's Basketball
With wins at Mohawk and Niagara, St. Clair finished the first half of its season over .500 with a record of 5-4. St. Clair had just five total victories over an entire 2011-12 season. Fourth-year forward Kendyl Rizea (Windsor) leads all Saints averaging 19.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Niagara, Men's Volleyball
It only took the month of November for Niagara to match its entire win total from 2011-12. The Knights are currently on a four-game win streak. Shayne Petrusma (Bowmanville) and Jeff Scott (Georgetown) have been Niagara's one-two offensive punch this season.
Durham, Women's Volleyball
The Cambrian Golden Shield had lost just two regular season matches the previous two seasons. That didn't faze the Durham Lords, as they came back from one set down to defeat the reigning OCAA silver medalists 3-1. Leah Saar (Pickering) led the way for Durham with 11 kills.

Humber, Men's Rugby
Humber won a third straight OCAA title defeating Trent 39-22 in the gold medal match. The Hawks set a trio of OCAA regular season team records, scoring 663 points, 107 tries and 64 converts in six matches. Humber went undefeated with an overall record of 8-0-0.
St. Lawrence-Kingston, Women's Basketball
The St. Lawrence Vikings were 0-16 last season. This season, the Vikings are undefeated at home after back-to-back wins over Durham and Centennial. Third-year guard Lacey Knox (Kingston) averaged 28 points in each victory. St. Lawrence has an overall record of 3-2.

Fanshawe, Men's Cross Country
Led by two-time individual silver medalist Clint Smith (Bridgen), Fanshawe men's cross country team earned a national title for the second time in three years. The Fanshawe men also kept their medal streak alive at nationals, earning gold, silver or bronze in each of the past eight seasons.
Humber, Men's Soccer
The Humber Hawks won their third national championship in men's soccer, a first for OCAA since 2009. Humber outlasted Vancouver Island 7-6 in penalty kicks to win the finale 3-2. Third-year midfielder Yousif Yousif (Toronto) booted the golden goal for Humber.
Cambrian, Women's Basketball
The last time the Cambrian Golden Shield won an OCAA women's basketball game, Pierre Elliott Trudeau was Prime Minister of Canada. Cambrian now has two victories in its return to the hard court following a 31-season hiatus from varsity competition.

Seneca, Men's Rugby
Seneca advanced to the OCAA semifinals with a convincing 50-7 win over Georgian in a sudden-death crossover. Three members of the Sting scored two tries each, including second-year player Jordan Lofthouse (Stouffville) who added four converts for an 18-point effort.
St. Lawrence-Kingston, Women's Rugby
The St. Lawrence Vikings advanced to the OCAA semifinals with a 27-20 victory over Conestoga in a sudden-death crossover. Juletta Cull (Douglas) led St. Lawrence-Kingston with two tries and a convert for a dozen points, while three other Vikings contributed one try each.

The Humber Hawks are the OCAA men's soccer champions for the third
straight season, defeating Seneca 2-0 in the gold medal match.
Matthew Rios (Toronto) was named championship MVP,
while Eugenio Garro (Woodbridge) and
Yousif Yousif (Toronto) were named all-stars.

The Humber Hawks are the OCAA women's soccer champions for the
third straight season, defeating division rival Fanshawe 1-0 in the
gold medal match. Keyla Moreno (Toronto) was named
championship MVP, while Sonia Rocha (Mississauga)
and Alora Walcott (Toronto) were named
all-stars.

Fanshawe, Men's Cross Country
Fanshawe won its fourth straight men's team title at the OCAA
Cross Country Championships, tying a standard set by St.
Lawrence-Kingston from 1978 to 1981. Along with men's individual
winner Clint Smith (Bridgen), Daniel
Bright (Brampton), Brandon Graham
(London) and Josh Lumani (London) contributed to
the title.
Humber, Men's Golf
The Humber Hawks also four-peated, successfully defending their
national men's golf team title. It was quite the medal haul for the
Hawks, as Alex Dumais (Caledon), Ben
Bell (Ottawa) and Nicolas Fortin
(Montreal, Que.) finished in a tie for third place in the
individual standings with a three-round total of 3-over 219.
Humber, Women's Cross Country
The Humber Hawks successfully defended their women's team title at
the OCAA Cross Country Championships. OCAA bronze medalist
Darian Limb (Etobicoke), Katherine
White (Etobicoke), Becky Tindall
(Etobicoke) and Amy Walcott (Etobicoke) all
contributed to the team championship.
Humber, Women's Fastball
In just their second season, the Humber Hawks won the OCAA Women's
Fastball Championship. Humber defeated two-time defending champion
Durham 8-3 in the gold medal game. Kelsey Bardy
(Caledon) was named Tournament MVP, while Shawna
Niskanen (East York) and Olivia Crossley
(Brampton) earned all-star nods.

Mohawk, Men's Soccer
The sixth-seeded Mohawk Mountaineers were perceived underdogs in their playoff match at Fanshawe, having lost 8-1 to the Falcons during the regular season. Not only did the Mountaineers successfully keep Fanshawe off the scoreboard through regulation and overtime, they ultimately won the game on penalty kicks.
Centennial, Women's Soccer
The Centennial Colts were the only lower-seeded women's playoff team to earn a win in the OCAA qualifiers, edging La Cite on the road 1-0. Second-year forward Miriam El-Masri (Scarborough) scored the winning goal for the Colts. Centennial is competing in the post-season for the first time since 2004.

Humber, Men's Golf
Led by two-time bronze medalist Alex Dumais (Caledon), Humber won its seventh consecutive OCAA men's golf team title, edging runner-up Georgian by just three strokes. It marks the longest active championship streak in the OCAA, one behind Mohawk's record eight straight women's cross country titles from 1981-88.
Fanshawe, Men's Golf
The Fanshawe Falcons won their first OCAA golf championship in eight seasons, winning the Division II men's team title by 30 strokes over St. Lawrence-Brockville. Corey Nathan (Sarnia) was the top Falcon at the 54-hole championship, shooting 11-over par. Nathan shot a one-over 71 in the second round.
St. Clair, Women's Golf
Led by individual silver and bronze medalists Heather MacKenzie (Essex) and Ashley Unrau (St. Thomas), St. Clair won its first-ever OCAA golf championship, winning the women's team title by four strokes over two-time defending champion Durham. Jordan Schatz (LaSalle) also contributed to the historic banner.

George Brown Men's Soccer
A winless George Brown Huskies team tied unbeaten Algonquin at home 2-2 for their first points of the 2012 regular season. The tie ended an eight-game losing streak against OCAA teams. George Brown followed this up with a 3-3 draw against La Cite, keeping the Huskies in post-season contention.
Humber Women's Fastball
The Humber Hawks ended two-time defending OCAA champion Durham's 29-game win streak against OCAA competition (regular season and playoffs) with a 17-9 victory. Humber's only losses of the 2012 regular season have come against Durham. Humber won a silver medal in its inaugural season in 2011.

St. Clair, Men's Soccer
The St. Clair Saints made their most daunting road trip of the
season look easy with victories over two-time defending OCAA
champion Humber and runner-up Sheridan. St. Clair's 1-0 upset ended
Humber's 31-game unbeaten streak during the regular season, a run
that spanned over three seasons.
Loyalist, Women's Soccer
The Loyalist Lancers ended a nine-game winless streak against OCAA East opponents with a 2-0 win at Cambrian. The Lancers also ended a long road drought, winning its first OCAA game away from Loyalist since Sept. 28, 2005. Tangye Seymour and Jessica Chartrand both contributed goals.

Lambton, Men's Soccer
After 43 consecutive OCAA regular season losses spanning five
seasons, the Lambton Lions finally got one in the win column with a
2-0 win over Redeemer. Second-year midfielder Justin
Passalacqua (Hamilton) scored both goals. Lambton now has
an two-game unbeaten streak adding a scoreless tie against
Niagara.
Sheridan, Women's Soccer
The Sheridan Bruins sent a strong message to the rest of the OCAA West region with a 3-0 win at Fanshawe. With the victory, Sheridan defeated a team that has won OCAA medals the past three seasons, including bronze last year. Sheridan was 5-2-1 last season, losing in the OCAA quarter-finals.

Cambrian, Men's Soccer
Following a one-year absence from the OCAA, the Cambrian Golden
Shield returned to the pitch and earned two points against last
season's top two teams in the East region, tying Algonquin and La
Cite at home 1-1. Nathan Briglio (Sault Ste.
Marie) and Marco Armiento (Sudbury) scored their
first career OCAA goals for Cambrian.
St. Lawrence (Kingston), Women's
Soccer
After going 2-4-1 in 2011, the St. Lawrence Vikings began the new
OCAA season on a winning note, defeating Centennial on the road
2-1. Vanessa Hutchinson (Kingston) and
Sydney Midwood (Sydenham) both scored for the
Vikings, with Hutchinson's game-winner breaking a 1-1 tie in the
50th minute of the match.
