DURHAM 3, FLEMING (P) 1 (FINAL)
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team took down the Fleming Knights at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre winning their match by a score of 3-1. Set scores were 25-18, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-14.
The Durham offence was spread out throughout the line-up as five players had seven or more points. Dave McMann (Elmvale, Ont.) led the team with 11 points while Steve Clarey (Baltimore, Ont.) finished the night with eight kills, two aces and seven digs.
With four blocks in the match, McMann is now 12 shy of the single season record for most in a season.
Libero Tom Alayon of Whitby led Durham in digs with 11 in the match.
Leading the way for Fleming was Alex Gastle who recorded 13 kills and two blocks.
Durham is 11-3 this season and fighting for the top spot in the OCAA East Region with Seneca (10-2) and Algonquin (13-0). The top two teams in each region get a bye to the provincial championship which will take place in North Bay, Ont.
The Lords will have a big home game on Friday, January 27 as they take on the first place Algonquin Thunder. Game time is at 8 p.m. and all fans will receive free popcorn for Durham Attack night.
