DURHAM 93, LA CITE 67 (FINAL)
OSHAWA, Ont. – After losing a heartbreaker to Algonquin on Friday night, the Durham College men's basketball team rebounded with a 93-67 victory over the La Cite Coyotes Saturday afternoon.
Rob Gagliardi (Whitby, Ont.) had his second straight game scoring at least 30 points as he had exactly 30 in the win. Gagliardi scored 38 against Algonquin the night before.
The Lords freshman went 12-for-19 from the field and had four assists as well as three steals and rebounds. Gagliardi is averaging 25.3 points per game, which leads the league in scoring.
Lords veterans Christoff Pierre and Tyler McGarrity had 17 and 15 points respectively for Durham in the win while Kevin Honig was two points and one rebound shy of a double-double.
Thierry Gasana was the leading scorer for La Cite as he had 21 points and nine rebounds.
Durham led from start to finish in the game as they got out to a 31-16 lead after one quarter and were in cruise control the rest of the way. The green and gold also dominated in the paint out-rebounding La Cite 52-36, while scoring 38 points off of turnovers.
The Lords sit in fourth place in the OCAA East Region with a 3-3 record and will hit the road next week for a game against the Fleming Knights (2-2). Game time on Friday night in Peterborough is 8 p.m.
