The Fanshawe Falcons won the second quarter-final game of the day 72-66 over the Algonquin Thunder.
The Falcons pulled ahead quickly leading 18-15 after the first quarter. Lauren Tebrake of The Thunder hit a three-pointer and two baskets to keep her team closely trailing the Falcons.
A team effort by the Flacons saw them grow their lead by 6 going into half time, 35-29.
The Thunder came out in the third quarter relying on their defensive play and full court press, but Player of the Game for the Falcons Ali Vlasman was able to put up 7 points of her own to give the Flacons their biggest lead of the game, 58-43.
The Thunder faught hard in the fourth quarter and continued their defensive presence to close the gap to 8 points, with the final score 74-66 for the Fanshawe Falcons. Fanshawe will play tomorrow in the Championship semi-finals.
Mikhaila Wright led the Falcons with 22 points while adding 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Vlasman finished with 19 points and the game high 9 rebounds. Natalie Warren had 13 points and 6 rebounds to help the Falcons advance to the semi-finals.
Nya Gathoth topped the Thunder with 23 points and 7 rebounds. While Tebrake finished with 13 points and 5 steals.
